NASHVILLE – WeGo Public Transit announces a new Community Impact Partnership with the Urban League of Middle Tennessee (ULMT) to support shared efforts to expand access to workforce opportunities and advance economic mobility across Nashville.
The WeGo Community Impact Partnership program is a collaboration between WeGo and local businesses and organizations. The goal is to provide riders with better transit options while promoting the partner community initiatives.
One of the core components of this initiative is transportation assistance, designed to eliminate access barriers to training and job opportunities. ULMT will provide transit passes to program participants, supporting reliable access to training sites, job interviews, and employment opportunities throughout the region. This approach is intended to reduce transportation-related barriers to workforce participation.
As part of this partnership, ULMT will collaborate with WeGo through its Advancing Workforce Equity Program, which provides workforce training in high-demand industries along with support services to help participants secure sustainable employment. Additionally, WeGo and ULMT will collaborate on key community events, including career fairs and workshops designed to connect residents with employment pathways.
“Transportation is often the missing link between opportunity and access. Through our Advancing Workforce Equity programs, the Urban League of Middle Tennessee helps generate more than $18 million annually in earned income for participants. Income that strengthens families and fuels our local economy. This partnership with WeGo removes a critical barrier by ensuring individuals can reliably access training, interviews, and employment, ultimately accelerating pathways to economic self-sufficiency,” said Clifton E. Harris, President & CEO, Urban League of Middle Tennessee.
The Urban League of Middle Tennessee joins other Community Impact Partners, including the Tennessee Titans, Nashville SC, and the Nashville Department of Transportation and Multimodal Infrastructure.
“We are talking to organizations that want to become a WeGo Community Impact Partner, said Caitlin Okrzesik, WeGo’s Partnerships and Business Development Manager. “It’s a great opportunity to reach WeGo riders, and the whole community, while promoting the organization’s strategic goals. Each partnership is customized for the organization, to better meet their needs.”
