Expansion of service with Choose How You Move
NASHVILLE – As part of Mayor Freddie O’Connell’s Choose How You Move program, WeGo Public Transit is proposing a Winter 2026 increase in bus service hours and frequency, and a new WeGo Link zone.
Choose How You Move is a 15-year program that improves Metro Nashville infrastructure, including building 86 miles of new and upgraded sidewalks; enhancing public transit with neighborhood transit centers, all-access corridors, and 24/7 service; installing smart traffic signals, and improving safety at intersections.
There will be an open public comment period for the WeGo service proposal from Monday, September 15 through Friday, October 10, 2025. During this time, customers will be able to view proposed Winter 2026 service changes and make comments. WeGo will also be taking comment about plans for a needs-based free fare program. People are invited to participate in meetings to provide comment directly to WeGo staff members, and submit feedback via mail, phone, and email as the agency works to ensure the proposals will meet the needs of the communities served.
Proposed Winter 2026 Service Changes
Choose How You Move funding enables proposed service changes that include longer service hours on Sundays; increased frequency on routes 3 West End, 7 Hillsboro, and 52 Nolensville Pike; improved weekend frequency and longer hours on Route 34 Opry Mills; weekend and evening service for Route 41 Golden Valley; longer service hours on Route 6 Lebanon Pike; Sunday service for Route 79 Skyline; and a new WeGo Link zone. Approved changes would go into effect Sunday, January 4, 2026.
The needs-based free fare program is also part of Choose How You Move, with plans to implement this fall.
