WeGo Diesel Mechanic Apprentice Program

We're constantly seeking individuals interested in joining the WeGo Public Transit team. Whether you're a previous applicant or applying for the first time, our goal is to support you as you take the next step in your career.

The WeGo Mechanic Apprenticeship Program allows apprentices to quickly develop skills and gain experience, reaching an A-mechanical level and improving their ability to support the maintenance of our bus fleet. It is a partnership between WeGo Public Transit and Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1235 (ATU), ensuring the successful delivery of training, mentoring, and credentialing. We are committed to this essential program, which is vital to the continued expansion of our Maintenance operations.

Benefits of the Program:

The program is a three-year accelerated development recognized by the Department of Labor’s Apprenticeship TN standards. It combines classroom instruction with hands-on work, improving diagnostic skills yearly. Apprentices gain practical diesel systems expertise used in transit fleet and can earn certifications in industry areas.

  • Training to be a mechanic can be expensive. We offer training experience, a full-time salary, paid vacation, holidays, pension plan, and health insurance benefits so you can earn while you learn.
