WeGo announces Summer Service Changes proposal and strategic plan

March 2, 2026 04:15 PM

Public comment meetings scheduled for March and April

NASHVILLE – WeGo Public Transit is engaging the public about proposed Summer 2026 Service Changes and a strategic service plan called WeGo Forward. It’s an opportunity to comment on short-term and long-term transit planning for Nashville and Middle Tennessee.

Service changes are funded by Choose How You Move, Nashville's voter-approved transportation improvement program.

“For the third time since voters approved Choose How You Move, we're expanding transit service in Nashville, making it easier to use and more reliable,” said Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell. “When Nashvillians can choose transit with confidence—because they can tap to pay and know another bus is coming soon and taking us where we want to go—we can all lower our household cost of transportation dramatically.”

"These service improvements are examples of Choose How You Move investments hard at work," said Choose How You Move Chief Program Officer Sabrina Sussman. "We're making steady progress on building a transit system that meets people where they are, literally and figuratively. More routes, better frequency, and service that matches how Nashvillians actually live and work. We're grateful to partner with WeGo to make transit work for the people who count on it every day."

WeGo Forward is an update to the 2016 nMotion plan, providing a long-term vision for managing growth alongside a practical service layout for a more seamless, integrated, and dependable transit network locally and regionally.

“This is an opportunity to set the transit agenda for the next several years,” WeGo CEO Steve Bland said. “WeGo Forward will be integrated into NDOT and Metro Planning street projects. That framework will support Choose How You Move. It allows us to work together to improve transportation in Nashville and Middle Tennessee.”

An open public comment period on the proposed Summer 2026 service changes will be held from March 16 through April 10. During this time, customers will be able to view the proposed changes, participate in meetings to provide comments directly to WeGo staff members, and submit feedback via mail, phone, and email as the agency works to ensure the proposed changes will meet the needs of the communities served.
